Greek archipelago becomes a little more magical

Mykonos conjures debris out of bins
"At SKL's Street Office Day, a participant arrived at our EWF ECO booth and demanded to see the secret of this Big Belly machine," says Per Järnebrink, CEO EWF ECO . We asked, of course, why she was so curious? Well, during the summer she had sailed to Mykonos on holiday and when they had added to the port, the trash on the pier was of course full. As they stood next to the trash can and talked, another tourist came by and threw his trash. How could you empty it without us not noticing?
Many Swedes fly, sail and travel by cruise ship to the island for its breathtaking scenery and spectacular nightlife. During the summer period from June to September, the municipality therefore faces challenges with a pedestrian traffic that increases by 10,000 tourists per day in the port and old town. One of the effects of the increase in visitors is that it becomes much more difficult for sanitation workers to arrive at the bins and empty them during the day. The problem was solved by Big Belly SOLAR whose effectiveness almost seems magical to tourists and islanders.
It may not be magic that Mykonos has invested in but 11 compressive solar powered BigBelly SOLAR . They bought the units for the 2014 season and emptied them a little more than 4 times a week during hearing season and less than once a week for the rest of the year. Over 6 months, they have collected an impressive 230,500 litres of rubbish without disturbing o crowding with visitors who want to shop and enjoy the beautiful city. The city plans to increase the number of Big Belly for this year's season to increase well-being and cleanliness in the city.
